COUNTRY HOLIDAYS

Self Catering Holidays are provided in chalet style accommodation on a working farm. Stabling is provided for your own horse with the use of a schooling menage available. Riders, walkers and cyclists are welcome, as are those who just wish to enjoy the Norfolk countryside. It is ideal for children as there are on-site play facilities and a heated swimming pool. Dogs can be accommodated on request.

Church Farm is situated deep in the Norfolk countryside yet within easy reach of its neighbouring county, Suffolk. The accommodation is situated in converted purpose built farm buildings, facing the fifteenth century Tudor farmhouse. The Farm is a working farm located on the edge of the small village of Tibenham which makes it ideal for exploring the tranquillity of the area. Roam the peaceful country lanes with your horse or dog; visit the many friendly, comfortable public houses; explore the scattered villages and their church towers, which can be seen from a distance across the flat Norfolk farmland, famed for its 'big skies.'

The attractive mediaeval town of Diss is close at hand. The beautiful Mere, an ancient term for lake, is surrounded by parkland and its waters lap right up to the High Street. Ducks, geese, coots and moorhens mingle with visitors and compete for their attention. Ipswich and Norwich are within easy reach. Historic Norwich is a cathedral city dominated by its Norman Castle, now a museum, which was second only to London in importance until the Industrial Revolution. Norwich market place was the scene of a massacre of the defeated Peasants Army, the last of three great English Peasants Rebellions; its leader, Robert Kett, was the last man to be hanged at Norwich Castle.

The Norfolk Broads, which are the result of ancient peat diggings, are now huge lakes connected by a network of rivers and provide a haven for wildlife yet attract many to the leisure pursuits of boating and angling. Boat hire by the hour or day is available. The Norfolk and Suffolk coast has something for everyone, from the brash commercialism of Great Yarmouth, Britain's second largest seaside resort, to the sedate town of Southwold. Here can also be enjoyed the unspoilt beauty of coastal nature reserves.

Tibenham village was home to one of 14 airfields which hosted the Bomb Groups of the 2nd Air Division of the United States Eighth Airforce. Over 6,700 young Americans lost their lives on flying missions from these and their associated Fighter Wing airfields. To this day, their role and of those who returned, is still commemorated at The Greyhound, Tibenham's local pub, where many of these young men would have enjoyed a pint or two between missions.

With so much to see and do, how active you wish your holiday to be is entirely up to you. You may decide to do nothing more than take an occasional stroll, or enjoy a barbeque by our outdoor heated swimming pool and do nothing more than relax.
